Archer's Guide to Soloing the Blast Furnace

Alright, I am posting this guide in response to multiple understandings that some of you have never done the Blast Furnace! emoticon Luckily, I am so giving emoticon

Requirements include level 60 smithing and completion of one of those Dwarf quests emoticon

Let's start off with the equipment you'll need. Make sure you wear anything that reduce your weight (ie. spottier cape, penance gloves, boots of lightness). And for your inventory, you need some cash (usually around 150-300k), noted coal, and noted ore - preferably Mithril as I will explain later on in this guide. The amount of cash you need will vary depending on how long you stay at the furnace. At tonight's event, Mopster and I stayed for 4 hours and I used around 300k. Also, add to your inventory SC Hammers. If you do not use SC Hammers, the experience will be extremely SLOW!!! Two of them will usually do for 3 hours.

And now for the method you will be using. For every Mithril ore you have, bring two Coals, as the Blast Furnace only requires half the original amount of Coal. You will be making your Mithril Bars into Mithril Bolts(unf). This is so that the bolts will stack and you will be able to stay at the furnace FOREVER! emoticon Why not Adamant? or Rune you say? Because, Ordan will only unnote ores up to Mithril. This is the reason you are able to stay at the Blast Furnace and not have to be interrupted by banking. He charges a small fee per every ore that you have him unnote. I do not remember the exact amount he charges, but they are small fees and you end up Breaking even in the end anyway.

When you first arrive to the furnace, the first thing you will want to do is put coal into the furnace. The furnace holds up to 220 coal at a time, before having to put in any other kind of ore. I usually fill the furnace up close to that, then I start putting in incriments of 28 of the Mithril ore. Only 28 because this is the maximum amount of bars the dispenser will hold. To load ores, click your noted ores on Ordan, and he will offer you his price to unnote them, click continue, then select the top option saying it's a fine price, then click continue and then go click "put ore on conveyor belt." Do this until you have close to 220 coal on the belt, next do the same with mithril, but count how many mithril ore you put on the belt and make sure it does not exceed 28. Ordan can NOT turn items back into notes for you. Once you have all the coal and mith on the belt, go over to the pedals and pedal the conveyor belt. Do so until all the ore falls into the pot. Next go over to the stove and take the spade laying next to it. Use the spade on the coke, then fill the stove right next to it. Do this until the light on top of the stove burns red. This is to make sure you have enough coke so that you don't have to go re-apply it. Now go to the pump, operate it, and keep and eye on the pipes, as they tend to break often at times. If this happens go ahead and grab the hammer off the table in the northeast corner and keep it in your inventory. Once you fix the pipes (if they break, if they did not, you are lucky >.<) go back and operate the pump. You do not need to go over and check the temperature gauge. People in a team world, such as 58, will watch and tell the pumper to stop when the needle hits near red. But since you're soloing, just keep an eye on the contraption above the bar dispenser, and when you see what looks like lava come out and splash into the dispenser, stop pumping and go take a bucket next to the sink, fill it up and pour it on the dispenser. Congratulations, you have just smithed your first batch of Dwarven Engineered bars. Take out all the bars you can (there will be 28 but of course you won't be able to do all at one time) and go over to the fence in the northwest area. Use your bars on the anvils and make all Mithril bolts. Then exit the fence, get the remaining bars and repeat bolts. Now you should have the hang of it, you will have only used 56 coal from the amount you put in. You can always search the dispenser and see how much coal is in the furnace. This amount of coal, as well as the bars you have in there, will save even on logout. Now repeat the process- unnote 28 mithril ore and put it on the belt and get another batch. Usually 3 rounds of Mithril will use up your coal to the point where you have to put more in. Just fill the furnace back up with coal and then mithril in its respected incriments, happy blasting.

Wow I didnt know there were limits on the belt. I just unnoted my ore as I needed, to make 14 bars at a time.
