RUNEFEST
Firstly, Hello Fun Cavers. Im Harriwood. I;m sure most of you know me.
So... Saturday 28th August was Runefest.
The doors were due to open at Noon. My journey began at 10am where I just made it to the train. Upon arriving at London Bridge station, I made my way to the Dungeons of Vinopolis. The banners were hung, and the queue of people was already big and it was only 11:15am. People from all over the globe were there, and costumes of varying efforts, ranging from santas, to full bandos, and capes of all kinds.
NPC's began to rouse the queue as it began to wind round the corner out of sight in the distance. And Actual dwarf, Drunken Dwarf wobbled amusingly around. Wise Old Man, Party Pete, and many cameras and videoers ran up and down the line.
The clock struck noon. Party Pete and his chameleon began cheering, and we began to enter the building.
Wristband, check, ticket for goodie bag, check, RS music playing, check.
Then we went in... WOW! Stalls looked lifelike, more and more NPCs, looking around there was so much to do... hot food cold drinks, alcoholic bevereages, cakes, cookies, and then I found the gaming area.
50 top of the range Alienware laptops, glowing keyboards etc, and were all set up ready for Runescape, for various in-game events like J Mod Clan wars, sign-up sheet Dungeoneering... And free-play. There was penguin hunting, and sword fighting displays, and ogre wrestling.
Clue scrolls, and magicians, and Gypsy Aris, and the king and queen of varrock, and hundreds of mods wandering around in red/white or black shirts.
Looking up to the ceiling, we spotted the preparations for a balloon drop party!!!
And then the fun continued. I took a nice comfy spot in the gaming zone, and played for a little while.. The went exploring.
Time went slowly and quickly, you felt like you'd done too much for it to have only passed one hour. But it was 1pm, and a swordfight was being demonstrated. An female Elf, vs a man-human. The elf won, with her speed and agility, and a controversial final blow to the humans nether-regions.
After that I gave a try at ogre wrestling.
Then played Dungeoneering with a swedish pmod, a maxed out player, and a fellow skiller. Another swordfight, this time the Elf vs a giant. The giant won.
By 4pm It was time for the insider session I wanted to go to. The big questions. Sadly none of the questions I submitted from our clan made it to the final cut. After the questions, and some interesting facts were revealed *sworn to secrecy* (actually can't remember lol)
I went penguin hunting. But the wandering ones seemed to have been reset. I returned upstairs for the Golden Gnome ceremony. Party Pete was leading the ceremony, and the crowd went wild. Cheering and clapping and tension building drum rolls for each award being handed out.
The videos were amazing. Congratz to the winners.
And then it was PARTY TIME!!
Downstairs, there was now free food and drink (inc. Alcohol)
The live band, made of RS players began, and they did fantastic covers of rock songs.
By 8pm the drop party was about to happen. Mass panic ensued, horrific lag IRL and I crawled on the ground popping balloons like a complete nutter. I grabbed 3 tokens, and a gold, green, purple, white, and red Phat. The tokens were exchangeable for loot, which when every balloon had been popped, were collectible from Diangos stall. The crowd was thicker than a moshpit. But I could see if was first come/first serve so I pushed through and picked up my loot. Then rushed away to play more runescape, got in 2 floors of dungeoneering with Hannahsocool, and then went back to the party.
Finally, at around 9pm it was over. And thats when I bumped into a German JMod & a swedish Pmod again. We went to the pub. And then got train home

Re: RUNEFEST
lol I love the idea of a rl drop party with tokens for loot lol, and Im very happy you had fun harri, im kind of like arch, it would be cool to have an american based one but It wouldnt be fair to the rest of the world, cause we really know how to party lol not any of that laim stuffy british stuff. If you dont wake up with chickens running about in your hotel room and mike tysons tigger in your bathroom, it wasnt a party.
Its sad to say, I would never attend a runefest. I wont go with out my wife and she wont go, I might be able to get her to go but its pretty unlikely. It does sound like fun though.
Sincerely Crommy
